DECEMBER 2024 • Boxes Are Magic was part of New Beginnings, a scratch night held at The Garlinge Theatre in Kent. In this comedy about resilience, resistance, and the forces of nature, a woman must simultaneously contend with an unstoppable force (the outside world) and an immovable object (her cat). Written by Allie Costa, directed by E.E. Martin, performed by Josie Kay and Dulcie May Moreno. • Creepypasta was selected for A Very Festive Horror Slam, held at The Libra in London. This silly spooky tale was written by Allie Costa and performed by Cara Vaitilingham. The event was produced by Ghosted Ink. • Two Girls had a reading at the Art For Change Festival in New York. In this haunting and poetic dialogue, two women emerge from a violent attack. Written by Allie Costa. The event was produced by Artists In Action. • Three of Allie's pieces (Do I Know You?, Pit Stop, and Power Pose) were part of the Gimme A Minute Play Festival produced by Modern Classics Theatre Company of Long Island. • Piece of Cake was presented at a high school in Michigan. Baking is the family business, but it's not that easy - especially when you've got big shoes to fill. Written by Allie Costa. • Power Pose was published in the anthology Frozen Women/Flowing Thoughts. It's available in hardcover, paperback, and e-book format and can be ordered from the usual suspects. The anthology was curated by Venus Theatre and published by Palmetto Press. NOVEMBER 2024 • Allie booked and recorded two episodes of a new podcast discussing favorite films and the art of filmmaking. • An audio version of Two Girls is now streaming on Open-Door Playhouse. Panelists discussed the inspiration behind the plays, the writing process, and the power of the theatre. • Low Tide was performed at The Glitch in London. This modern-day story follows a landlocked mermaid as she acclimates to her new legs and her new home. This lively comedy features three pets (a cat, a dog, and a rabbit) discussing anthropomorphic films. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Josh Anderson-Grey, featuring Sarah Chamberlein, Sophia Borkenhagen, Steffanie Freedof, and Carla McPherson, produced by Patch Plays. • Clean Slate was performed at Colgate University in New York. When given the chance, a woman seeks forgiveness from someone dear to her. But is such a thing even possible? Written by Allie Costa, directed by Madison Elias, featuring Megan Eisenstein, Rowan Meyers, and Andrea Sandoval Villagran. OCTOBER 2024 • Allie was included in Voice One's Screamplay compliation. • How I Knew Her was part of UpStage Napa Valley PlayFest. Two strangers grieving the same person cross paths in a graveyard in this poignant story of loss and commemoration. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Dorothea Rastegar. SEPTEMBER 2024 • The Intervention Will Be Televised was part of the sold-out NYU One-Act Festival produced by Atlantic Acting School. A woman’s propensity for binge-watching TV shows leads her loved ones to hold an intervention in this comedy written by Allie Costa, directed by Erin Reynolds, featuring Soli Partovi, Cecilia Juliano, Lulu OKain, Joey Gamba, Kylie Kuta, and Ruby Vanhouten. AUGUST 2024 • Allie played a lead role in a reading of the new comedic play This is Fine. • Allie's play Four More Years was a finalist for Nomad Theatre's Polling Place festival. • Remembrance had a virtual reading via Tiger's Heart Players. After the death of his father, a grief-stricken Hamlet is plagued by psychotic delusions making him think several others have died and that he is at fault. He finds comfort in an unexpected source: the dearly not departed Ophelia. Written by Allie Costa, featuring Jordan Mitchell-Love and Mae Ruling. JULY 2024 • Allie booked and filmed the sci-fi film Virtual Tour. She plays an A.I. realtor in a post-apocalyptic world. • Allie booked and filmed the horror film Dirty Hands. She plays a witch seeking revenge on the man who robbed her. • Allie booked and filmed Dream Comes True, a coming-of-age film about heartbreak and letting go. • Allie booked and filmed Nature Story. She plays the seemingly perfect leader of a strange group in this experimental film. JUNE 2024 • Allie played a lead role in a reading of the new dramatic play Circle of Five. • Boxes Are Magic was presented at The Glitch SE1 in London. MAY 2024 • Wolves Change Rivers was selected for Roustabouts Theatre's Celebration of New Writers and had a staged reading at Scripps Ranch Theatre in San Diego. This powerful play explores our interconnectedness with nature and the importance of protecting the wilderness as three wild wolves try to survive in a changing land. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Matthew Salazar-Thompson. • A Taste of the Future was part of the Appalachian State University Short Play Festival in North Carolina. In this coffee shop, the time is now - and then... Written by Allie Costa, directed by Katie Kisely, featuring Kalea Fraser and Rosalie McCracken. • Pit Stop was part of the 20th Anniversary Special Edition of Gi60: The International One Minute Theatre Festival, held at The Tank in New York City. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Chris Donovan, featuring Ally Callaghan and Jay Nickerson as two strangers who have a brief but memorable exchange. APRIL 2024 • Allie booked and filmed Match of the Season, a film in the style of Black Mirror meets The Hunger Games with a dash of Bridgerton. She plays the authorative announcer who controls the entire proceedings. • Allie was interviewed on the Venus Theatre podcast. She discussed the joys and challenges of being an actor, writer, and director, and the differences between working on screen and on stage. • Blue Christmas was produced in Dallas by A Light in Dark Places. In this moving and hopeful drama, a college student creates a hotline to help others - and herself. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Chris Millar, featuring Yaletzy Alaniz and Ryan Negrón. • Before We Burn was selected for the Earth Day Expo and had staged readings at the Graduate Center in Manhattan. In this time-bending tale, two women learn the fate of the land is in their hands. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Peter Burford, featuring Kelly Jean Clair and Chrysten Peddie, presented by Break a Leg Productions. • Pit Stop was in Clayton State University's One-Minute Play Festival in Atlanta. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Antonyo Myers. • Don't Shoot the Messenger Pigeon was selected for the University of North Alabama One-Act Festival. A mafia messenger in a career crisis meets his match in this offbeat comedy. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Jil Ceballos. • Live a Little was part of L.A. Unmasked. In this heartfelt examination of the way we judge others and ourselves, a hospital administrator trying to hide her chronic illness has an unexpected conversation with a bubbly young nurse that leaves a lasting impression on them both. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Jeff Torres, featuring Pauline Yasuda and Joanna Marie Hobbie. FEBRUARY 2024 • Unfinished Business was part of Nightshade: Love Can Be A Nightmare, a short play festival produced by Memoriam Development at Side Street Studio Arts in Illinois. An unexpected visit between two close friends reveals there's always more to be done, more to be said. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Amanda Davila, featuring Laura Noigebauer and Jamie Berry. • Faking Glory was part of Little Love Stories, produced by Livonia Community Theatre in Michigan. When Carlos, a high school senior, is nominated for Homecoming Queen as a prank, he's determined to go to the dance anyway. Meanwhile, his best friend Marija is going through an identity crisis of her own. Written by Allie Costa, directed by Maryanna Lauter, featuring Toby Gittleman and Mae Thomson-Miracle. • Two Girls was selected for V-Day 2024 and had a reading at The Bread & Roses Theatre.
